What a General Contractor Does
Why Hiring a Licensed General Contractor Matters
A general contractor manages the full scope of a renovation or construction project — coordinating all trades, pulling all permits, and taking responsibility for the finished product. When you hire a GC, you have one point of contact, one contract, and one party accountable for the outcome. You don't manage subcontractors, you don't visit the permit office, and you don't coordinate inspection schedules. We do. Chattanooga Renovation Contractors is a licensed general contractor serving Hamilton County and surrounding areas. We're also investors and homeowners who built this company because we couldn't find a GC that delivered on all four things that matter: fair pricing, on-time completion, quality craftsmanship, and honest communication.

Why It Matters
Licensed vs. Unlicensed — What's at Stake
In Tennessee, general contractors performing projects over $25,000 are required to hold a license from the Tennessee Board of Licensing Contractors. An unlicensed contractor cannot legally pull permits — which means any work that requires permits is either unpermitted (a problem at resale and with insurance) or the homeowner has to pull permits themselves (a significant risk and administrative burden). Beyond licensing, a licensed GC carries general liability and workers' compensation insurance. If an uninsured worker is injured on your property, you may be personally liable. Our license number is available upon request. We provide a certificate of insurance on every project before work begins. We pull every permit required and coordinate every inspection.
