About Chattanooga Renovation Contractors
A local, family-run renovation company built on honest pricing, clean job sites, and craftsmanship we'd put our own name on — because we do.
Our Story
Chattanooga Renovation Contractors was founded by Harrison Lewis and Rachel Lewis — a Chattanooga family who came to this business the hard way, as property owners hiring contractors themselves.
Harrison is a CPA and Rachel is a pharmacist. They bought their first investment property here in Chattanooga, renovated it from the studs up, and then did it again. And again. More than a dozen properties later, they had lived through every version of the bad-contractor experience there is: crews that disappeared for two weeks, estimates that doubled mid-project, work that had to be torn out and redone, and phone calls that were never returned.
They kept arriving at the same conclusion — there had to be a better way to run a renovation company in this city. The Chattanooga market was full of homeowners and investors who needed real work done, and almost no one was offering it with honest pricing, clear timelines, and the basic respect of returning a phone call.
So they built the company they wished they could have hired. Sara Petrovska — an architect and investor herself — joined as the first team member and helps run day-to-day operations. Today, CRC handles full home renovations, kitchen and bath remodels, rental turns, and one-time repairs for homeowners and investors across Hamilton County. The belief that started the company hasn't changed: honest pricing, clear communication, and craftsmanship the team is proud to put its name on.
What CRC Believes In
Five principles guide every decision on every project.
Quality Craftsmanship on Every Project
CRC treats every job — a $400 drywall patch or a $90,000 full gut — with the same standard of work the team puts into its own properties. Having renovated more than a dozen units they still own, they know the difference between work that lasts and work that fails in year two. They won't deliver anything to a client that they wouldn't accept in their own home.
Clear Communication
Clients always know what's happening, what's next, and when. The team answers the phone, returns messages the same day, and sends updates throughout the project. No ghosting, no guessing, and no surprise problems that quietly become expensive while no one says a word.
Clean Job Sites
CRC respects every client's home. Crews lay down floor protection, contain dust wherever possible, haul debris out daily, and sweep up at the end of each workday. When the team leaves a Chattanooga job site, it looks like a site that someone cares about — not a tornado.
Honest Pricing
Every client receives a full, itemized estimate before any work begins — no hidden fees, no surprise charges, and no "well, we found something else" markups dropped in mid-project. If a true unknown appears after a wall is opened, CRC says so immediately, in writing, with options — and the client decides before any further work proceeds.
Proper Licensing and Permits
Every project that requires a permit gets one. CRC pulls it, coordinates the inspections, and keeps the paperwork in the client's file. Unpermitted work is one of the most expensive shortcuts a contractor can take — it costs the owner at resale, on insurance claims, and with the city. CRC doesn't take that shortcut.
Licensed & Insured
Chattanooga Renovation Contractors is a Tennessee state-licensed general contractor and is fully compliant with Hamilton County contractor requirements. The company carries active general liability and workers' compensation insurance on every job site and can provide certificates of insurance on request before any project begins.
CRC pulls every permit a project requires. The company doesn't hand permit paperwork to homeowners and ask them to file it, and it doesn't skip permits to save a few days. When the work is done, the inspections are signed off and the paperwork is in the client's file.
This matters more than most people realize. Proper licensing, insurance, and permits protect a client's investment three ways: if something goes wrong on the job site, CRC's insurance covers it instead of the homeowner's policy; if the owner ever files an insurance claim related to the work, the carrier won't deny it for being unpermitted; and when the property eventually sells, every permit shows up clean on the disclosure — no surprise problems at closing. Cutting corners here is one of the most expensive things a homeowner can let a contractor do.
